Enjoy the process!

September 2016. I did it! I made the big chop! I had no clue what my journey with my hair would be, but I was here for it.

September 2016- The big chop!

Now, let me just say this, I knew I was never going to be one of those girls that explored the various natural hair products, posted up on YouTube and showing you how easy the hair “slips”! But for me, this transition was about me entering a place of self-discovery, and acceptance.

Wash and go- Yes honey!

Long Hair, Don’t Care!

Long Hair, Don’t Care!

Over the past 4 years, I have had an exciting journey with my hair. I have tried twists, braids, Bantu knots (oh was that a disaster), blow outs and my go to, the top bun!

About a year ago, due to stress, medication, and did I mention stress, my hair texture completely changed! My hair was so damaged and dry that I had to basically cut it and let it heal.

During this time, I was personally going through a depression and equally needed my mind to heal.

So, I went to my stylist and started doing protective styles, leaving my crown to heal and restore.

My journey with my hair has taught me this; a process is just that, a process. In life we will go through many journeys. Entrepreneurship, parenting, relationships, new jobs, these all need a process. On these journeys there will be gains and losses. You will laugh, cry, be angry and excited, sometimes all in the same day!

Some say, “trust the process”, however, I say enjoy it. Why? Because sometimes you will have to change things up a bit. Sometimes a current process is not working so you must pivot. But, if you enjoy the process, that means through the good and the bad, you will still find joy in the process itself.

Where are you in your journey? Whether you are on the winning or losing side, the hair flourishing or breaking, stop, take a breath, and enjoy the process!

My hair journey continues…
